Precision Homes: National Award Winners!

Paerata Rise Show Home

by Rebecca Glover

Managing director Andrew Butts spends all his spare time chasing big game fish, but the catch he's most proud of is the stash of awards the company netted from the Master Builders' House of the Year awards. Already successful in 2015 and 2017, last year they scooped the pool by not only winning gold and gold reserve in their category but also taking out the national title for new homes in the $450-550k price range. Not bad for a little company from Franklin!

You won't be fishing for compliments from visitors when you build with Precision Homes. A registered master builder, Andrew established Precision Homes six years ago, after learning his craft in Pukekohe and working for local builders. “As a small team we're always available to clients, and we pride ourselves on the quality of our work. I personally project manage every build from start to finish. We encourage clients to be fully involved in the building process and we're always ready to listen to suggestions and answer queries. “Our qualified builders and apprentices are as dedicated to high quality standards as I am. Our team also includes a talented draftsman to assist in the drawing of new plans or alterations of existing plans where needed.” The Precision Homes prize-winning house, featured in the glossy Master Builders' awards magazine, is a character home in Waiau Pa. The concept and overall design hark back to the classic villas and bungalows of the early 1900s where the owner spent many years growing up. The focus on high end interior and exterior finishes and attention to detail in this quality home include vaulted ceilings in the lounge and kitchen and solid timber interior joinery and architraves crafted from eco-sourced Chilean lenga hardwood. Polished concrete floors have been used in the main open plan areas. The farmhouse kitchen, complete with butler's pantry and wine cellar, features traditional style cabinets. Presenting a completely different look is their show home in the new subdivision of Paerata Rise, the ultimate in 21st century design. It's a sleek, smart dwelling planned to make the most of the space for family living. It's one of several Precision Homes land and building packages available in Paerata Rise, some of which have already been sold. The Precision show home at 21 Jonah Lomu Drive demonstrates just how smart a home can be – and we're not just talking its undoubted good looks. The lucky future owner of this home will never be in the dark again, with sensors turning lights on as you walk through the house. Press a key on your cellphone on your way home, and the house can be lit up and warmed or cooled to greet you, with your chosen music playing throughout. The kitchen is state of the art, but if you're working off Granny's old recipes in imperial measurements, fear not – just ask Alexa, she's built in to the wiring and will convert ounces to grams at your command. As soon as you step into the show home you'll notice the stunning interior décor, the work of Andrew's wife Alisha Butts. With qualifications in visual arts and interior design, backed by years of experience in those fields, Alisha's skills have made the inside of this Precision Home as beautiful and unique as the outside. “A house is a house, but a home is special. Everyone wants their home to reflect their own character and choices and not just look the same as everyone else's. “Faced with a bare interior, it can be quite a challenge for people to visualise how they would like their home to look. And there are so many little details to make decisions on, it can be quite overwhelming.” Precision Homes' promise is that you'll get what you want when you build with them. You won't be restricted to a set of plans – Precision will listen to your requirements, and the result will be a home you'll love, at a price you can afford. “Our focus is on forming a relationship with clients to provide personal attention to their needs,” says Andrew. “We concentrate on what will suit the client and the land, truly giving them a unique home at the end of the build.” When Andrew and Alisha aren't working, or looking after 15 month old daughter Ava, the best place to find them is on the water. Andrew has chased big game fish all around the world. Along with self-confessed 'water baby' Alisha, and of course Ava, they'll be off in a few months for a well earned rest to escape the New Zealand winter, fishing in Hawaii. “Ninety per cent of what we catch is tagged and released,” says Andrew. “We want to ensure there will be fish for the future.” If your future includes a brand new home, or maybe renovations, commercial work or additions, give Andrew a call on 021 277 4040 or see the website, www.precisionhomesnz.co.nz. No job is too big or too small. And make sure to check out the show home in Paerata Rise. Opening hours are 11am – 3pm, Thursday – Sunday, or by appointment. You're sure to fall in love with it – hook, line and sinker.
