Today’s kitchen wears many hats. It’s the centre of a busy morning family breakfast huddle, the place for coffee with friends, the makeshift office for paying the bills, a backdrop for your children’s art, and let’s not forget its prime purpose — a place to make and enjoy good food with family and friends.
It stands to reason then, that when you are creating a kitchen in your own home, you want it be just perfect.
Carlielle Kitchens in Pukekohe is the family owned company with a proud history of designing and manufacturing the highest quality kitchens that can be all this and more.
Originally founded by Mike Carlielle, Sue and Barry McMiken bought the fledgling company in 1996 and developed its reputation for designing and building quality kitchens with exceptional workmanship and enduring materials. Over the years, three of their children, Doug, Greg and Tasha have become more and more involved in the business, eventually taking over its day-to-day running last year.
“It’s all ours now, unfortunately or fortunately, depending on the day” laughs Doug.
“Seriously, though, we are excited that the three of us, can build on Dad’s great work and raise the bar even higher.”
Doug looks after the overall direction of the business, whilst sister Tasha’s passion is design, taking the plans created by the design team and turning them into working drawings to make your dream kitchen come alive. Their brother Greg is more hands-on in the production department, overseeing the creation of the cabinetry and ensuring quality control.
It’s a great synergy, and the result is a locally produced product that is in high demand from discerning homeowners, renowned architects and quality builders Auckland-wide. Carlielle’s award winning designs have also featured in many national magazines, such as NZ House & Garden and Urbis magazine.
“We are doing really exciting things in the business,” says Doug. “The industry is changing all the time, always pushing us to adapt and challenging us to aim for perfection every time we design and build a kitchen.”
You can sense the quality and attention to detail the moment you enter their showroom and on-site manufacturing facility. Since taking over from their parents, Doug has employed the services of a manufacturing consultant to ensure the systems and process are among the most efficient within the industry and has also purchased a state-of-the-art CNC machine – a precise, computer-driven cutting machine that results in a superior end finish. Whether you have a set idea and your own plans for your dream kitchen, or simply an idea formulating in your head, the team at Carlielle will create the magic starting from the design phase.
Carlielle has an award-winning team of four designers, who are all qualified in material and spatial design. They will take the time to chat to you in detail about your project, key features, budget, timings and objectives for your new kitchen. And to help illustrate all the latest technologies and features, their showroom is full of concept kitchens and products that can help bring your ideas to life. Carlielle offers this as a complimentary service and gives you peace of mind in ensuring you are selecting the right team to fulfil your vision.
Once you are happy with the concept of your new kitchen, it will then be turned into a 3D rendered perspective drawing. This allows you to check that your needs have been correctly reflected and can be modified if necessary. At this point, recommendations will be given for materials and finishes that best suit the design.
“It is very rewarding to see a client’s initial reactions when they see their ideas represented in 3D; to be able to replicate an idea in their head that they have shared with us into a living breathing document that can be used to create something they have always wanted. It’s a special feeling,” enthuses Tasha.
Another strength of the Carlielle team is their ability to follow the whole process through from concept to completion and oversee it themselves. Once a kitchen has been quoted and price agreed on, the attention turns to their state-of-the-art CNC machine that will create all the pieces from the design, ready to be assembled into cabinetry and installed by their team of skilled professionals.
At each stage in the production process Greg takes pride in the fact that his team takes as much care in producing your kitchen as if they would be making their own. His quality control systems are robust throughout the whole process, and include a final check both after installation and then again 12 weeks after completion to make sure you are 100% happy with your dream kitchen.
“The manufacturing team know they are expected to maintain the same standards as if it were their own dream kitchen,” says Greg. “Their work is their passion, and it shows in every Carlielle kitchen we install.”
Every Carlielle kitchen features the revolutionary Neptune cabinet system, the heart of which is a super-strong and durable aluminium frame onto which all hinges and drawer runners are bolted. In wet areas, such as vanities, laundries and underneath kitchen sinks, Carlielle also use 100% waterproof Stiroboard for the cabinet carcasses, meaning that your cabinets won’t swell or attract mould.
Acrocore is Carlielle Kitchen’s premium door product, made right here in Pukekohe. This state-of-the-art, hard-wearing, gloss door product virtually eliminates swelling and irreparable scratching, common with other door materials, meaning it will look better for longer.
Carlielle Kitchens also offers a unique guarantee as testament to their commitment to enduring quality. Their Neptune cabinet system, Acrocore doors and all their workmanship are covered for a full 20 years.
So, whatever set of hats you want your new dream kitchen to wear, make sure that it has a Carlielle Kitchens label on it – that way you can be assured of the very best in design, quality manufacture and precise installation, ensuring enjoyment and satisfaction for many years to come.
