Golden Homes ‘Phoenix’ New Show Home in Drury

with Golden Homes Counties

Travel along State Highway 22 from Drury through to Pukekohe and it is hard to miss the tasteful silhouette of the Brand New Golden Homes Show Home on the corner of McPherson and Karaka roads that has emerged better, brighter and bigger than the one that was destroyed in an arson attack in April 2018.

The attack in the early hours of the morning resulted in damage to the existing show home, but surprisingly the damage was relatively superficial and left the framing intact. Why?

Because Golden homes use ZOG® steel frames which do not ignite or add fuel to a fire. Combined with the use of premium Gib Ultraline® as standard on all walls and ceilings, this further reduced the consequences of the arson and offers a piece of mind that homes built with timber do not.

“The original timber ceiling battens were completely burnt out, but apart from some minor scarring, the steel framing and the roof were largely undamaged” says David Grigor of Golden Homes Counties. “Steel ceiling battens and flame retardant roof paper are part of the current standard specification which further mitigates the risk of fire damage. Steel framing makes such a sensible choice for New Zealand conditions. It is strong, durable, and dry to build with, and of course the steel is made here in NZ.”

ZOG® steel frames have other advantages too, being recognized by the Asthma foundation as a ‘Sensitive Choice’ because they are chemical free, allergen free and dust free and don’t support mould growth. Timber homes all contain treated timber, which is just that, treated with chemicals which potentially can leach into the walls or air of the home or be at risk to termites or other pests that can slowly degrade the structural integrity of your biggest asset, your home.

David, along with his wife Donna have represented Golden Homes in the Counties area since 1996. They have an in-depth knowledge of all things building and have experienced the full spectrum of markets.

“People used to come to a show home, view a lot of standard plans on the wall, pick one and we would build it for them’ These days, a lot more is done interactively online and about 80% of what we do is not standard, and we usually draw the plans up from scratch.”

Creating that architecturally inspired plan just for you is one of the things that sets Golden Homes apart. Not only will they draw up the plans to incorporate all the things you want in your home, from number of bedrooms, living areas and outdoor spaces that allow your family to live the life you want, they will do it all free of charge.

“All our standard plans come with pricing and you can take a price list away with you. We hear too many stories of people not being able to get a price on a build without first having to pay a significant fee. We call it an entrapment tax, it’s not something we do.”

Walking through the new Show Home you can appreciate the level of involvement and knowledge that David has. Either he, or experienced consultant Grant, will be the ones to show you round the home, which is open all week either by appointment, or Monday to Friday 9am to 4.30pm. Both take the time to get to know what your needs are.

“It’s not so easy now to just build in a new subdivision. District plans have constraints about how and where you can build, and it can be frustrating to find that after you have bought a piece of land, you can’t build the home you want. Our advice is not to buy any land until after you have seen us.”

The five bedroom show home is built to the Golden Homes ‘Phoenix’ plan with a floor area of 397m². The plan offers maximised indoor/ outdoor flow and highlights all the stand out features of a Golden Home. Built to the Goldstar series specification it offers incredible value at less than $1485 per square meter.

“In today’s market, pricing is a key feature, we believe what we offer is one of the best price to meterage ratios around.”

Large, airy and light living areas provide for family living that is demanded by today’s modern and innovative families. One thing you will notice is how quiet it is, the All Seasons thermally isolated double-glazed windows keep out the noise but keep the heat in.

The kitchen is modern and fully equipped with the latest Fisher and Paykel appliances, cabinetry is manufactured to an exceptional standard and has a soft close system for all doors and hinges. All lighting is fully sustainable meaning bulbs can last up to 20 times longer than standard.

The new Golden Homes Show Home feels like a home you would want to take sanctuary in with your family, a comforting space, full of the latest innovations and products that supports and grows with you as your family needs change. No worries about the quality of the building materials, nothing to be concerned about with added costs of layers of unexpected payments as you go through your build.

Just good old-fashioned value for money, honest advice, and a true-blue kiwi product that having stood the test of time, the elements and even unexpected events is still providing kiwi families with the realisation of their home owning dream.

But don’t just take our word for it, come and see for yourself, and put you and your family on the path to a better home you own, a Golden Home.
