The Christmas season is a time to celebrate being with family and friends. It can however sometimes isolate members of our community, especially our senior members, who are without a strong network around them or who’s usual network of friends return to their own families outside of the area.
For a number of years now, locals, Amanda Mitchell and Carole Inight in conjunction with Philip Coarse -Scott, from Southern Spit Roast BBQ .Catering Co. and a small group of friends, have made sure that for locals in our area are not on their own at Christmas.
This year as in previous year, they will be hosting a Christmas lunch with all the trimmings on 24th December for fifty Seniors. Seniors who may be on their own at Christmas are invited to join others for lunch, and an afternoon of true Christmas Spirit. There will be traditional Christmas Fayre, and each guest will receive a take home meal for the following day and a box of Homemade Christmas Treats.
“We have found in previous years, that we have regulars who enjoy meeting up with old friends and every year a chance for meeting new ones” says Amanda.
There is no charge for lunch and complimentary transport can be arranged in the Pukekohe area.
