Ebbett Pukekohe is undergoing a rapid expansion with the Kia and MG brands joining the dealership from 1st July. In addition, the Volkswagen Concept Store in King Street will come under their management from that date as well.
The Ebbett Group had to secure a prominent brand to headline the Pukekohe dealership after GM announced its plan to discontinue new Holden sales later in the year. With the addition of Kia they have brought on board one of the most exciting growth brands in New Zealand.
Dealer Principal, Ross Sheppard said “It’s really exciting to bring Kia, MG and Volkswagen into the dealership. Kia and Volkswagen are terrific brands with popular, established ranges and I reckon MG is an absolute hidden gem – that brand is going to fly once people give it a shot.”
He went on to say “We love our Holdens and remain absolutely committed to a long-term relationship with our Holden customers and their vehicles but we had to invest in the future with different names above the door and to secure these brands gives us a great opportunity for continued growth in the future.”
Kia in particular has been one of New Zealand’s top performing vehicle brands over the last decade, with 150% sales growth in the last 5 years alone. Kia sold over 7000 vehicles in 2019, placing them comfortably in the top 10 of the country’s best selling automotive brands.
The MG brand brings with it a wealth of history, having been established as far back as 1924. This new incarnation, launched in New Zealand only last year, offers small and mid-sized cars with great looks and tech features that will make them a genuine option on many short-lists.
MG will be based at the current Volkswagen store on King Street and Kia will be based at the current Holden site on the corner of Tobin and Edinburgh Streets.
