Renovation of the Year!

with Smith & Sons Renovations & Extensions Franklin

Smith and Son’s Pukekohe franchise holders Melissa and Lane Vandenbrink are well known as the masters of home transformation having won numerous industry awards and they can now add the prestigious ‘Renovation of the Year Award.’ The annual award is presented to the renovation that ‘best meets and surpasses the brief whilst showcasing the best features in a renovation’ and the Vandenbrink’s entry of a revamped family forever home achieved this in all areas of judging.

“Our clients, Stephen and Naomi had a traditionally built home from the 90’s, it didn’t work for their lifestyle and had never achieved a code of compliance. They didn’t want to move, so set about creating their dream home with our help. The result was indeed a stunning transformation.” explains Melissa.

The new layout included extending the kitchen area to make it much larger, knocking out a few existing walls so they could have an open plan family space but still retain a formal dining area. One of the features of their plan was to have these two areas divided by a bespoke barn door to reflect their love of country living. A new fireplace was installed in the dining room providing a warm, cosy ambiance as well as a reliable heating source. Adding in timber look tiles also served to increase the warmth.

Perhaps the most stunning change was the kitchen and scullery. Designed by Kitchen Inspirations it is stunning and entirely functional. Sleek black cabinetry with timber look accents, an engineered stone top, an island bench for additional counter space and breakfast bar at the end finished off with matte black subway tiles splashback. With the chosen double wall oven and wine fridge the entertainers dream was created. All the while creating full code compliance for Stephen and Naomi. They are extremely happy with the result and can easily believe why it was chosen as Renovation of the Year.

“The award reflects what a great job Smith and Sons do from start to finish. We are extremely thrilled with the DPC process that Smith and Sons have, everything was explained to us as we went along, and we still felt in control at every stage. We absolutely thoroughly recommend the Smith and Sons Pukekohe team.” Smiles Naomi

Smith and Sons use a tried and trusted method for every renovation. The Unique Design – Plan – Construct process has been developed to specially address the complexities that a renovation can present and gives you assurance that by choosing a single company to manage the design and build of your renovation it will be a far more efficient, cost effective process in the long run.

Smith and Sons Pukekohe will be alongside you from start to finish, from the Design phase, which really is a creative journey finding out about your needs and wants from your renovation now and potentially in the future. No shortcuts here. Once the working drawings are complete and have passed through council/ city compliance, the most exciting phase begins – construction!
