If last year’s Rebel Round Up event was anything to go by, this year’s one will be equally successful. The hot rod and custom car themed event tips its hat to the whole culture around it celebrating days gone by with live bands, retro fashion and of course the old style hot rods and customs themselves.
New Zealand’s ultimate hot rod, vintage, rockabilly festival will be held on Saturday 16th February 2019 at NZ’s historic home of motorsport, at Pukekohe Park Raceway. The action-packed event is a celebration of everything old & cool with vehicles travelling from all over New Zealand to attend. The features include live bands, hotrods & custom cars, vintage markets, historic motor racing, vintage aircraft landings, flag drop drag racing, onsite camping, Miss Rockabilly NZ & Miss Rebel Round Up pageants, automotive swap meet, trade stands, cocktail lounge, pinstripe artists, themed outdoor bar, & even a dedicated kids zone to keep the youngsters occupied. Experience the thrill of historic Gasser drag cars, vintage stock cars & historic race cars as they roar around the Pukekohe circuit. The event also features the Classic Cover Primer Nationals. This show celebrates old style hot rodding from the 30's, 40's, 50's and 60's showcasing American origin vehicles of these genres as a real step back in time. The NZ Petrolhead Magazine dedicated show area features pre 1980 American, Australian, European and British vehicles too. The photos shown here are a snapshot of last year’s event which was an instant success. In recent months the Pukekohe Park Raceway has also been home to the monthly Petrolhead Kruize in the Park Summer Series gatherings as well. The next one being Sunday 13th January from 8am running through to around midday. These events run from October to April and feature food stalls, cars on display and for sale and also markets and a swap meet. The January Sunday event is a warm up to the February Saturday event – the Rebel Round Up. If you’re looking for a good day out with the family then get along to these neat events.
