Team Expansion at Blackhawk Law

by Sally Sumner

As someone who has lived in rural Franklin for 20 years, Blackhawk Law Limited’s sole director, Kim-Shiree Grant, has seen immense change in the area.

Kim-Shiree is not only familiar with the local farming scene, she's also aware of the way the use of rural properties are changing as Auckland city spreads its tentacles further south with rural properties quickly becoming zoned for residential.

“We have a vested interest in the area and the people of Franklin. Our focus is to ensure that our clients are looked after by making sure we are up to date with all the changes at local and Council level and how they affect both our clients and our community.”

Working through change is something Kim-Shiree and the team at Blackhawk Law take very seriously, and to keep up with demand it has been necessary to expand their team. This September, Kim-Shiree is thrilled to announce that Senior Solicitor, Peter Montagna, together with his Senior Legal Executive, Paulette Hazell, will be joining Blackhawk Law.

“We are fortunate to have such calibre as Peter and Paulette joining the team, as often the good lawyers move away to the bigger city firms. However community commitment is big for both Peter and Paulette and they are choosing to offer their skills and expertise locally.”

Peter Montagna is a familiar face in the area. He was educated locally, lives locally and has been employed locally in law for over six years. Peter is heavily involved with Pukekohe Rugby Football Club and is their honorary Solicitor. “I’ve been playing or involved with Pukekohe rugby since I was four!”

Practising in general, property and commercial law, Peter’s career has developed from strength to strength and he has gathered extensive experience. Peter has a strong passion and commitment for achieving desired outcomes for his clients.

“Things can get complicated sometimes between parties in property transactions especially with the new rules around zoning. Establishing and working towards an outcome that is achievable in a pragmatic fashion has always been something I strive for” says Peter.

He is delighted to be joining a team that recognises the importance of the local community and equally pleased that Paulette will continue to work alongside him. A veteran of 27 years in law, Paulette started out in a law firm in Papakura after the completion of a Diploma in Business. She has continually built on her skills as a Legal Executive and completed all the rigorous training required as a Legal Executive over the years. In July of next year Paulette will reach a new pinnacle in her career and become a Fellow. This will enable Paulette to take Declarations and provide clients with independent legal advice for Enduring Powers of Attorney.

In Paulette’s spare time she is an active member of Smash Fit, a group of like-minded women who gym together, and as a result Paulette is now starting to be involved in adventure racing and trail running and will take part in the Spirited Women Adventure Race next year.

To celebrate Peter and Paulette’s arrival, Blackhawk Law Limited will be offering free basic Wills for the month of September. Peter invites you to contact Blackhawk Law to arrange a meeting with him to discuss your Wills and any other legal matter you may require.
