I write this sitting in a paddock surrounded by cows. This is of course, entirely irrelevant, but I was assured by someone in the know that a catchy first line would result in greater engagement. And, following advice from someone claiming to be someone in the know seems to be the thing to do, particularly in the fitness industry.
For those of us in the fitness industry who, thanks to father time, have forgotten more than most, it comes as no surprise that every day bring a new fad promising quick results. The reality is of course, that this is a consequence of an ever-decreasing changecycle of the world we’re living in. And when we take our cue from the speed of change in every other aspect of our lives, we can so easily end up trapped in cycles of quick-fix promises made by “people in the know”. I mean, what were we thinking; clothes that tone the body while you’re wearing it, loungers that create a 6-pack while you just sit there … and naked work-out classes that somehow create the perfect body without a bead of perspiration, I kid you not.
The reality of course is very different. Real, actual long lasting and deeply rooted change takes commitment and consistent dedication, a willingness to show up and affect change every day no matter what.
And this is where coaching comes in, because what people need is support and partnership. We all need to be empowered to play an active role in our own health and to know we have the capacity to make change in our lives. And at NZKM Fitness this is what we do, we help bridge the gap between intention and action. And to make this happen, we have developed a programme designed to collaborate with you to put in place short-term and long-term health goals as well as day-to-day game plans to make the goals achievable.
What makes this programme successful is the fact that our coaches aren’t simply great at what they do, they are experienced and qualified in programme design, education and coaching.
So, if every once in a while, you have that voice nagging at you to take that first step, then it’s time to go out on a limb and call us, because that’s where the fruit is. Well, it is according to Jimmy Carter, and he should know.
