Masters of Transformation

with Smith & Sons Renovations & Extensions Franklin

Smith and Son’s Pukekohe franchise holders Melissa and Lane Vandenbrink are the masters of home transformation. They can expertly renovate your well-loved and liked home that has served you well in the past into something you will love to stay living in for the foreseeable future.

With prices skyrocketing and uncertainty about the economy and borders reopening many New Zealanders are looking to their biggest investment, their homes and using their excess cash to improve it then sell and move on, or spend a sizeable amount making it into their forever home. Whether it is a kitchen remodel, bathroom and bedroom make over or a total refit out the team at Smith and Sons Pukekohe can get it done for you right, the first time and wisely.

“We see a lot of people who have dappled in a renovation and then find it is a wasted effort when they move to other areas of the house to do the same, we encourage our clients to talk to us before they start any DIY themselves so they get a clearer and more accurate picture of what they are trying to achieve and then guide them to make wise decisions about how to achieve it.” explains Melissa.

Smith and Sons use a tried and trusted method for every renovation. The Unique Design – Plan – Construct process has been developed to specially address the complexities that a renovation can present and gives you assurance that by choosing a single company to manage the design and build of your renovation it will be a far more efficient, cost effective process in the long run.

Smith and Sons Pukekohe will be alongside you from start to finish, from the Design phase, which really is a creative journey finding out about your needs and wants from your renovation now and potentially in the future. This is an exciting time but one that throws up lots of questions! This leads naturally through to Plan, where Smith and Sons Pukekohe will take all your ideas and ensure that each of them are physically possible to do, within your budget and if they are not, talk you through alternatives that will achieve the same. No shortcuts here – we need to be 100% sure your home renovation will stand the test of time, no matter what the conditions. Once the working drawings are complete and have passed through council / city compliance, the most exciting phase begins – construction!

Like a new build, a renovation construction process can be daunting, but Smith and Sons Pukekohe make it easy by assigning you one contact who is up to speed on everything to do with your project. They have done it before and will lead you through the process making it as easy and enjoyable as possible. When the final sign off day arrives, Lane and Melissa will personally make sure that everything is to your satisfaction and you can enjoy your new forever home.

Welcome Home!

Clients Stephen and Naomi first went to Lane and Melissa from Smith and Sons Pukekohe with a Lego model of the way they wanted their house to look! Their tired and traditionally 90’s-built home had never achieved code of compliance and didn’t work for their lifestyle.

The new layout included extending the kitchen area to make it much larger, knocking out a few existing walls so they could have an open plan family space but still retain a formal dining area. One of the features of their plan was to have these two areas divided by a bespoke barn door to reflect their love of country living. A new fireplace was installed in the dining room providing a warm, cosy ambiance as well as a reliable heating source. Adding in timber look tiles also served to increase the warmth.

The main bathroom was updated to a dramatic monochromatic style. The bold, black details of the fittings contrast nicely against the natural tones of the floor and full height wall tiles. The timber feature on the vanity softens the room while maintaining the drama of a monochrome colour scheme.

The master bedroom received a much larger walk in wardrobe and ensuite utilising the same design as the main bathroom with the added bonus of a double basin vanity and a large shower with twin heads. All the bedrooms were updated with new carpet and paint and all the joinery was replaced with new double glazed aluminium joinery.

Perhaps the most stunning change was the kitchen and scullery. Designed by Kitchen Inspirations it is stunning and entirely functional. Sleek black cabinetry with timber look accents, an engineered stone top, an island bench for additional counter space and breakfast bar at the end finished off with matte black subway tiles splashback. The scullery is designed to be utilised by the host to create the magic in the kitchen but then hidden away until they are ready to deal with it! With the chosen double wall oven and wine fridge the entertainers dream was created, with full code compliance for Stephen and Naomi and they are extremely happy with the result.

“We are extremely thrilled with the DPC process that Smith and Sons have, everything was explained to us as we went along and we still felt in control at every stage. We absolutely thoroughly recommend the Smith and Sons Pukekohe team.”
