The New Zealand Government still advises all kiwis with an ‘do not travel’ overseas advisory in the wake of the Covid Pandemic that has gripped the world since 2020. So just what are your options for the intrepid Kiwi traveller who has always had the hankering to broaden their horizons or complete that OE.
The global situation remains complex and rapidly changing. While some countries and territories have reopened their borders to travellers, any destination could experience a sudden increase in cases of COVID-19 and a heightened risk to travellers of contracting the virus. Strict travel restrictions could also be imposed suddenly, and you may need to remain overseas for much longer than you had planned. In many places the options for New Zealanders to return home to New Zealand, or travel onward to another destination, have reduced significantly and you may not be able to travel as planned.
New Zealand itself has some great destinations that are both adventurous, breathtaking and take in sceneries from as diverse as snow-capped mountains, ancient glaciers, rolling hills and stunning beaches. Exploring our own back yard is both rewarding and revealing not to mention far more accessible at this time
Travel to the Cook Island has reopened and whilst there is still the chance that it will stop again, what better way to indulge that tropical holiday feeling than with a week in Rarotonga. Whatever travel you indulge in this year, make sure you follow the below packing list that every traveller should know!
- Roll, don’t fold.
- The bigger your suitcase, the more you will put into it.
- Make a packing list.
- Pack dual-purpose garments.
- Think Tetris: Fill every inch of space!
- Never unpack your toiletries: It’s a good idea to have a separate bag for them.
- Leave half the clothing you’ve packed at home.
- Invest in a travel towel.
- Wear bulky items on the plane.
- Pack from the bottom up.
