Ever wondered what a plastic surgeon could do for you?

Find out how a visit to Cutting Edge Plastic Surgery could change your life.

with Cutting Edge Plastic Surgery LTD

It ’s more than skin deep.

It’s all about you at Cutting Edge Plastic Surgery. Operating from a new building in Roulston Street for just over a year now, Adam Greenbaum and his dedicated team continue to grow this thriving surgical aservice with its focus firmly on personalised care.

“I treat you the way I would wish my family or myself to be treated by a surgeon.” says Adam. “The foundation of our success is in partnering with our patients. We empower them to make the right decisions by arming them with all the information they need to feel confident in achieving a realistic outcome.”

It’s quick and easy to get an appointment either directly by calling 09 238 8881, or via your GP. All you have to do is pick up the phone and chat with one of the friendly reception staff. Not only that but Adam is also delighted to share that he no longer needs to make patients travel to Auckland for any major surgery requiring a general anaesthetic “the really good news is that patients needing a hospital facility for bigger operations on hands, breasts or tummies can have them done with me at Franklin Private hospital”. General consultations and all other treatments are conducted in the quiet and friendly facility at the Pukekohe practice at 11-13 Roulston Street. The new space has also allowed the business to offer more services.

As Adam explains “with Skinzure, we now have a one-stop-shop service in Pukekohe and the Franklin area for skin screening. Quite simply it’s one phone call to book a full body skin check. What’s more it’s cost effective because it saves patients the expense of a visit to a mole checking service, plus a GP visit if a problem is found, so they can then be referred to a specialist for which they pay yet another consultation fee. With our practice it’s one referral for total body photography, a dermatoscopic examination of the skin and a specialist assessment and opinion, so you not only save money but more importantly time. From skin check to a diagnosis and treatment is a matter of days not months which also removes the stress of juggling multiple appointments and referrals in the process.”

Although Adam has been in practice in Pukekohe since 2011, it seems many GPs simply hadn’t heard of him “but by advertising when I moved, all of a sudden, I’ve had an influx of referrals from GPs who hadn’t referred to me where I previously rented rooms and who discovered their patients could have their consultations and treatment locally, and often within a day or two. It’s been an eye-opener for us all, so elocal has proved to be a useful friend.”

But it’s not all about business growth. What has been special for Adam is achieving his dream of running his own surgical practice the way he’s always wanted to since arriving in New Zealand and offering a personalised holistic service to his patients.

“It's been an enjoyable 18 months finally running my practice the way I’ve wanted to for some time. When I worked in the public system, one of the managers wrote a memo saying: the problem with Mr. Greenbaum is that he wants to treat all our patients the same way that he treats his private patients! Now I don’t have managers with budgets to control or a lack of space, time, and resources to constrain how I run my private practice and treat my patients; I’ve seen my workload double month on month recently.”

One advantage Adam has is the experience he gained working for the NHS in Britain. Born in London, he married a Kiwi and moved the family to New Zealand in 2009, proudly becoming a citizen in 2015. Prior to emigrating, he was in private practice in Harley Street, London and held consultant posts in the southeast London teaching hospital group comprising King’s College, Guys and St Thomas’ Hospitals. He trained extensively in London, Manchester and Glasgow, in an era when much of the plastic surgery performed for skin cancer was done under local anaesthetic by plastic surgery trainees during their senior years away from their base hospitals, while visiting rural hospitals and operating in small outpatient facilities, so doing relatively extensive surgery under local anaesthetic is “very much in my comfort zone after those apprenticeship years”.

With so much misinformation about cosmetic surgery around these days it’s comforting to know that you are dealing with such an experienced professional. Adam is Board Certified in the UK and Europe. He is vocationally registered in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery with the Medical Council of New Zealand and holds further qualifications that allow him to accurately diagnose skin cancers using a hand-held microscope device called a Dermatoscope. He is a member of the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons, an International Member of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery and a Fellow of the Skin Cancer Institute. In 2016, he was elected a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons too. This is not a one-man band though. With a team of 3 specialist nurses, boasting over 90 years of nursing experience between them, much of that in specialist plastic surgery, alongside specially trained healthcare assistants working with Adam, Cutting Edge Plastic Surgery is well equipped to support patients with a range of services. To find out more check out Adam’s web site at www.ceps.nz or phone the practice on 09 238 8881.
